Sound recorders: Zoom H4n Pro vs Zoom H4n Zoom H4n Pro or Zoom H4n compact recorder

In this video photographer, Curtis Judd decided to take a look at the newly announced Zoom H4n Pro – the long-awaited replacement to the very popular H4n by Zoom.

The new Zoom H4n Pro was announced back in June but as it now reaches more and more people we start seeing reviews and this is actually a comparison to the older version by Judd.

The noise floor of the new version according to Judd is noticeably better (which isn’t a surprise as there are new pre-amps). The screen is also significantly better and easier to read which is important – especially outdoors.

Judd definitely recommends spending a few extra 4 on the pro version compared to the older H4n version but if you can – the H5 will give you dials instead of rockers which is better for handling changes to the gain level.
