The Adrien Broom Exipirience: Surreal Sets and Fantastical Photography

On this episode of Make It by Adobe Josh Haftel talks to one of our favorite female photographers of recent years Adrien Broom and join her behind the scenes for one of her amazing fantasy shoots.

Broom has a unique type of photography based mostly around amazingly detailed and complex sets which she and her team meticulously plan, design and creates by hand which tells a story (mostly through colors which are a big recurring motif in her work).

Interestingly Broom admits in the interview that despite the planing a lot of what is finally going on, on the set the stories she tells in pictures tend to unfold on their own so to speak. Brooms explain in the interview how the whole idea of the color series started (a project which she started on Kickstarter and she is in a process of making it into a children’s book).

Josh also joins Broom on a new shoot which happens in NY on a set of a horror movie and includes mostly natural light, some smoke, and a giant artificial flower.

We highly recommend that you check out more pictures from the colors project on Broom’s website.

As always, you can find many more behind the scenes videos on the BTS section here on LensVid.
