In Search Of 399

Thomas Mangelsen is one of the most well known nature photographers in the U.S.. On the video above you can see a short summery of his search for the female Grizzly bear known as 399 in the Teton Wilderness. Two weeks later she and her tiny triplets make their first appearance near Pilgrim Creek in Grand Teton National Park.

This is not the first video Mangelsen records where he is looking for a wild animal. Earlier this year he published another video showing his search for the great gray owl. For 15 years Mangelsen has wanted to photograph a great gray owl in a snowy conifer, but the “phantom of the north” almost always remains elusive until Mangelsen finally caught up with it:
