Irix Cine 65mm T1.5 Hads On (IBC 2024)

During IBC 2024 we had a chance to stop by the Irix booth and take a look at the newly released Irix Cine 65mm T1.5 lens and hear a few other interesting news from the company.

During IBC 2023 we saw a prototype of the Irix Cine 65mm T1.5 lens. It took several months but the lens has finally been released and was on display at the show.

The lens adds another important focal length to the Irix Cine line with a fully weather-sealed design, 11 rounded blades, close focus distance of (23.6” or around 60cm), minimal focus breathing, 86mm Front filter thread, and compatibility with Irix Edge magnetic filters.

You can purchase the Irix Cine 65mm T1.5 lens for $1200 (Sony E, Nikon Z, Canon EF, Canon RF, MFT, Arri PL and Leica L).

We have the lens in our studio and we shall release a review in the next few weeks.

More news

Irix shared a few small pieces of news with us, including the fact that its Cine lenses received the military Grade MIL-STD-810 certification for both Freezing Rain / Icing (Test Method 521) and Humidity (Test Method 507.6) from the U.S. Army (you can read more about it in the company’s blog).

Besides that, the company released a white version of its Cine line for those who prefer that look for their lenses and maybe the most interesting – we were promised that the company is working on a lens to fill the gap between 65mm and 150mm in the current line.
