Today we are proud to present the first “LensVid Talk”. A new format where the LensVid team covers a broad range of topics related to photography and videography. In this episode, we cover the new announcements from Sony including the A6700, new lights from Maxima, Gyroflow software stabilizer, new Polar Pro filters, Manfrotto video bags, and a tiny 32Bit-Float Field Recorder from Tascam as well as some updates on a few reviews we have been working on.
Sony New Products –A6700, FE 70-200 F/4 G OSS II and ECM-M1 (July 2023)
Earlier this week Sony announced 3 new products: the Sony A6700, the first APS-C Alpha series camera in several years, the Sony FE 70-200 F/4 G OSS II a new version of the f/4 70-200mm lens with unique close-up capabilities, and finally a small and compact ECM-M1 on camera digital mic with 8 modes – we covered all of this in our recent new article.
In this video, we discussed the differences between the different Sony camera lines (Does Sony still need the A6xxx line at all?), why the new 70-200mm f/4 II is probably going to be a huge success, and why digital Sony mics are such useful tools.
On that note, we also mentioned the new Godox Virso S Wireless mic system which uses the Sony Multi-Interface shoe on Sony cameras and is the first 3rd party that does that as far as we are aware. We hope to test this system soon.
Here are the prices for the new Sony products:
Maxima 6 GaN COB
Italian manufacturer Maxima recently announced a new COB professional light that uses a new technology that it claims find its way to the lighting industry for the first time. The Maxima 6 uses high-efficiency GaN or Gallium Nitride technology which the company claims is being used for the first time in the lighting industry and allows for reduced weight and higher power efficiency.
While you can read more about the Maxima 6 in our article, we are hoping to get a review sample to our studio soon to see how well it really works.

Gyroflow
It’s not all hardware in this talk and we do want to mention an interesting piece of software called Gyroflow which at the moment is totally free and available as a standalone or a plug-in for DaVinci Resolve. The software is essentially an advanced gyro-based video stabilization tool for cinematography, drone videography, and much more.

Polar pro Helix | MagLock Filter System
Polar Pro continued their cooperation with Peter McKinnon with a new series of filters called Helix Maglock (VND, mist, and blue/gold “morphic” variants). What’s special about these ones is that they are not only magnetic (there are already plenty of those around (see for example our Haida NanoPro Low-Profile Magnetic Filters) but also locking, removing the biggest fear of using magnetic filters.

Manfrotto PRO Light Cineloader Video Bags
Manfrotto quietly introduced a new series of video bags called the PRO Light Cineloader, these are designed to carry fully built rigs of different sizes and be loaded from the top.
The new bags come in 3 sizes (S/M/L) and are priced between $220-$320.

Tascam DR-10L Pro 32Bit-Float Field Recorder
Finally, we also wanted to talk about a new compact 32Bit-Float field recorder from Tascam. The DR-10L is a tiny recorder unit that you can put on your talent and works with a lav mic which despite its tiny size includes a 32Bit float technology allowing the user to make sure no clipping can happen under any circumstances.
The unit is designed for creators and event recording where traditional wireless lav systems can pose concerns for workflow. It is powered by two AA batteries and can run for a full day of recording.
When it comes to cost the DR-10L Pro sells for just under $260 with the additional BT transmitter which allows you to control the unit remotely via an app but sadly not to monitor the audio (really Tascam, why not?).

Upcoming reviews (and more)
We also wanted to share with you some of the stuff that we are working on here on LensVid at the moment. Here is a short list (there are more, and even more on the way but some of those we can’t discuss at the moment).
- Sigma 14mm f/1.4 DG DN Art – we waiting for a meteorite shower next month so this review will take a while.
- Sigma 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG DN OS – this is one of our current projects so expect it in the next couple of weeks or so.
- Vlogger DLC90 Quick Release Plate Base – The idea of this base plate is great to hold both Arca and 501 but at least from our experience so far it just doesn’t work that well (if you don’t fully tighten the screw the plates do not lock with just the leaver – so it is hard for us to really recommend).
- Godox P600Bi KNOWLED – this is an ultra-powerful (over 600W) 1×1 bi-color panel which is extremely light and requires no power brick or ballast. The review should be expected in a few weeks (we are waiting for a special softbox and want to test it in a real upcoming production we have coming).
- ThinkTank SpeedTop Crossbody 10 & FirstLight 35L Plus – We are currently testing both these bags. The SpeedTop is a compact side bag with a magnetic lid (the review should be up pretty soon) while the FirstLight 35L Plus is a large pro photo travel backpack (this might take a while to review).

Why should you trust us?
No mention of the Godox wireless mic even tho it is listed in the timeline notes? I’m looking for a comparison between it and the Hollyland Park Max, which I think will prove superior.
Otherwise, I love the concept of your Talk channel but a more organized and coherent presentation would be a better listen – time is a precious commodity. Yik-yak is not of much value, as Tony and Chelsea have proven – boring!!
Love your lens reviews – keep up the good work!
LensVid Talk is not for everybody – some people can listen to a long unscripted conversation and others can’t. I am fine with that. Most of our reviews are pretty short (under 10 min) and usually very organized. LensVid Talk is exactly the place where we want to have an open discussion about all sorts of topics without a script – just two people who work in the industry and love gear talking about new stuff and other topics.
