YC Onion Pinieta Peak video tripod
We recently published our extensive review of the YC Onion Pineta Peak tripod. We have been working with this heavy-duty video tripod for several months (since IBC 2023) and it is a competent unit with a high-speed opening mechanism and some cool features.
We looked at the advantages and some things we want to see improved in the future in the review. The tripod itself is already available for purchase ( Pricing is set at $700 with the head adding another $150 and the central shaft for $150).

CineRags by CineMilled
California-based manufacturer CineMilled recently introduced the CineRags, Muslin diffusion inserts for the Aputure Dome 150 and Dome 2 and 3.
These fabrics come in both bleached (white +200 Kelvin) and unbleached (yellow +1100 Kelvin) and cost around $60. The fabric does reduce the output by about 2 stops so keep this in mind if you need a lot of output but otherwise it seems like a great solution and we are looking forward to seeing more options for other manufacturers and lights.
You can purchase the CineRags directly from the CineMilled website.

Firecut Plugin for Premiere Pro
There are countless AI plugs for Premiere to assist with faster editing. One of the most interesting ones is Firecut by Youtuber and influencer Ali Abdaal.
The plugin has several useful features such as an automatic silence cutter, auto-captions in different styles and languages, automatic podcast cutting (between speakers), automatic chapter creation, and auto zoom cuts and it seems that the company is working on some more features.
A few weeks ago YouTube creator Premiere Gal made a review of Firecut which you can check out website.
Came-TV V-mount 50Wh and 99Wh mini batteries
Came-TV has a huge range of products including many different types of batteries. Recently the company came up with two new V-mount mini batteries that have a range of connections and a very important new feature – USB-C fast charging (so no need for a bulky expensive V-mount charger – just use a fast USB-C charger and you are set).
The battery has USB-C PD, USB-A as well as D-tap 8V and 12V, and a very detailed screen with flame retardant case.
We have already received the batteries (more on this in an upcoming LensVid Talk episode) and we are in the process of reviewing them.
The 99Wh version is already available for order on Amazon and the 50Wh is available on B&H.

Ifootage COB 40° Light Projector
We have been testing a lot of iFootage gear recently including many of their lights (see our recent iFootage Anglerfish 200BNA – Bi-Color COB review), the company just announced a new compact projection attachment called COB 40° Light Projector.
The unit has all the usual features of a projection attachment including a Bowens mount, a gel option in the front, cutters but also 360-degree rotatable gobos, and a 40-degree beam angle.
You can buy the new Ifootage COB 40° Light Projector on Amazon.

Lexar CFexpress 4.0 Type A and B Cards
CFExpress type B has been way ahead of CFExpress type A in terms of speed and price for a long time now. While pricing for CFExpress type A has been coming down, the top speed remained basically the same. However, with the introduction of CFExpress 4.0, Both CFExpress type A and B are going to get a huge boost in speed in 2024.
Lexar was the first company to announce the introduction of both CFExpress type A and CFExpress type B which will support the new fast protocol this year (probably early in 2H of the year). At the moment there are no cameras supporting this new protocol and we can’t predict if there will be when the cards will actually become available (maybe Lexar is actually waiting for such cameras we also don’t know but it’s an interesting speculation).
Regardless, even if cameras will only be available in 2025, Lexar is planning fast USB 4 card readers that can take advantage of the new transfer speeds so at least when it comes to data transfer to the computer, you will be able to reach those increased speeds (read speed of 3600MB/s and max. write of 3300MB/s for CFExpress type B and read speeds of 1800MB/s and max. write speeds of 1650MB/s for CFexpress Type A).

Godox MG2400BI COB
Announced back in IBC 2023, the Godox MG2400Bi is the most powerful light by the company at the moment. According to Godox, the bi-color light has an impressive 2900W input power and uses cutting-edge COB technology with a stable output of 2600W across all color temperatures.
Godox also introduced new optical accessories, including different angles of reflectors, fresnel, and projection attachments (but also softboxes and other common modifiers).
The Godox KNOWLED MG2400Bi Bi-Color LED Monolight is available on B&H.

threaded inserts for 3D parts
The last topic for today is a little different. In the studio, we have to build a lot of our own sets and setups. We also sometimes need to connect screws into parts that have no screws and on occasion, we even used some 3D printed stuff.
3D printing professional, Youtuber Thomas Sanladerer recently published a comprehensive video looking at the strength of different types of threads and inserts when applied to 3D printed parts – the results are fascinating and if this topic interests you we definitely think it is worth a watch.
