On this video Colin Smith from PhotoshopCAFE takes a look at how to best combine two images using layer masks and seamless blending technique using Photoshop.
Smith starts with an explanation of how to combine two images using the Photoshop tabs (application frame) – all you need to do is drag images and holding the shift key. Now you have two images on on top of another and you can change the order of the images quickly by changing their order in the layer section.
If you add a layer mask each time you will use a black brush it will show the layer below – with the white brush you will remove your black selection. By using a gradient (black/white) you can do pretty interesting blends just like the one Smith shows in the video.Using a soft brush you can create better blending of the two images – adding feathering to the mask will also help with that as Smith demonstrate.
We have already covered layer and layer masks in a previous video by Steve Arnold entitled “Learning to Use Layers & Layer Masks For Beginners in Photoshop” which is worth watching if you are just starting with layers in Photoshop.
