Canon Talks Filters for Shooting Video

On this Canon video, part of the “Canon EOS HD Video Tutorials”, Jem Schofield talks to cinematographer Angus Oborn and look at different types of filters and how to use them for video production.

There are three main types of filters you should know and all of them are relevant for both stills and video shooting:

  1. Circular polarizers
  2. ND filters
  3. Graduate ND filters

There are different size filters (depending on the size of your lens – you can also use adapters or matte box based on your needs). On this video Schofield and Oborn discuss (and demonstrate) the use of all 3 of these filters as well as some of the ways to work with them during a video production. They also add some interesting tips which can help you make the most out of these filters.

We have covered different types of filters many times in the past including HD Variable Neutral Density Filter by Fader, using filters for shooting waterfallsFotodiox WonderPana FreeArc filters for Wide-Angle LensesHow to Use ND Grads: a Step by Step Guide and more.
