Earlier today (and after months or rumors) Nokia announced it’s second generation photo-centric smartphone – the Lumia 1020. The new smartphone is based around a 41 megapixel large sensor (the same as in the Nokia PureView 808) with 6 element Zeiss optical system and a built in image stabilization mechanism.
Unlike the PureView 808, the new 1020 is a Windows Phone 8 based device with some powerful Dual-core 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S4 processor, 2GB of RAM, 4.5″ OLED display, 32GB of storage onboard, Xenon flash and a redisgned application with a lot of new features including the abbility to save simultinously both full resulution images and 5MP ones for web usage.
The Lumia 1020 will also have a snap on wireless charging shell and an optional Nokia camera grip with a tripod mount and 1020 mAh battery in the grip.This video by the verge shows a quick first peek at the new Lumia 1020 smartphone shot at the NY launch event today.
