Hawk-Woods Bastion Battery (IBC 2023)

During IBC 2023 we visited the Hawk-Woods booth and got a first glimpse at the upcoming Hawk-Woods Bastion floor battery which should be available in early 2024.

During IBC 2023 we have seen a number of high-power batteries for photo and cinema uses. What is particularly interesting in Hawk-Woods approach to this category is the compact size of the Bastion.

The Bastion is a 1600Wh floor battery that weighs in at around 12KG (26lbs) and is just larger than a lead car battery but includes a large range of connections and uses.

The Bastion will come with a large number of outputs supporting different types of uses including a number of 12V DC, 14V (XLR 4 pin), 26V (XLR 3 pin), and 48V (Speakon 15A). Besides those, it will also include D-tap and USB-A and USB-C connections. The unit has a built-in charger (and a small screen) so no additional accessories are needed.

Small size but many connections

The Bastion will be a very robust unit designed for outdoor use with an IP54 rating (not fully rainproof but water resistant to a degree) and its compact size and weight should allow for great portability.

Pricing and availability

The Bastion compact size and fairly high capacity will not be cheap and the company is said to target a price of around 3200 British Pounds (around $3900).
