During IBC 2024 Viltrox introduced several Cine and still lenses including the truly giant Viltrox Luna 42-420mm T5.6, Epic 135mm T2.4 & 65mm T2.8 Macro 1.33x Anamorphic lenses, a stills AF 135mm f/1.8 lens and affordable Viltrox AF 40mm F2.5 and AF 20mm F2.8 full frame lenses as well as an APS-C AF 56mm F1.7.
Viltrox Luna 42-420mm T5.6
The newly developed 42-420mm T/5.6 is the latest Luna 10x high-end Cine lens and in a sense it is very similar to the first Luna lens the 30-300mm T4.0. The 42-400mm was designed to have a huge sensor coverage of 60mm – enough to cover larger sensors such as those in the ARRI ALEXA 65 (54.12 mm × 25.59 mm) or the URSA Cine 17K (55.9mm and a vertical size of 23.32mm)
This lens is a beast at around 16kg/35lbs, it will come in an LPL mount and has a minimum focus distance of 1.8m or about 6ft.
Pricing is a big factor and this lens will set you back around $100K.

Viltrox Epic 135mm T2.4 & 65mm T2.8 Macro 1.33x Anamorphic lenses
Viltrox also added two lenses to its Epic Cine line at IBC this year. These are the 135mm T2.4 and the interesting 65mm T2.8 macro lens. These two join the rest of the line which currently includes 25mm T2, 35mm T2, 50mm T2, 75mm T2, and 100mm T2 lenses.
The current line of Viltrox Epic lenses sells for between $3300-$4000 and the new lenses should come at a fairly similar price range.

Viltrox AF 135mm f/1.8
For us, the most interesting lens showcased at the Viltrox booth was the new 135mm f/1.8 stills lens. This lens is part of the LAB high-end stills line and includes a small screen that can show the distance to the subject and other information.
The lens feels very nice in the hand and should compete with the Samyang 135mm and maybe even the Sony GM 135mm (we have tested both in the past).
Pricing is going to be very competitive at around $900.

Viltrox AF 28mm F4.5 VCM “Chip”
A really special lens showcased by Viltrox is the “chip” lens which is a tiny lens cap size package with 28mm angle for full frame cameras with an f/4.5 and AF. This lens can be used as a “lens cap” but also as a tiny inexpensive wide prime lens.
Pricing for the new lens is just under $100.

Viltrox AF 40mm F2.5 and AF 20mm F2.8
Two fairly compact lenses announced by Viktrox around IBC this year are the AF 40mm f/2.5 and the AF 20 f/2.8. Both are very lightweight lenses (less than 200g) with 10 elements with 6 and 8 groups. USB-C for updating firmware and white or black variants.
Pricing is $168 for the 40mm and the 20mm sells for $176.

Viltrox AF 56mm F1.7 (APS-C)
Finally, Viltrox also introduced a new APS-C 56mm f/1.7 AF lens. This compact inexpensive lens has a focal length that is equivalent to 35mm to 85mm (on FF). The lens has 11 optical elements in 9 groups including 4 ED elements and 3 elements with high refractive index.
You can find the lens in black or white color. The lens sells for $180.
