DJI Mavic 3 Pro: First Look One drone 3 cameras

Today DJI unveiled the Pro version of its Mavic 3 and Mavic 3 Cine drones which will be the first drones in the world to include not one or two but 3 different cameras (for actual shooting) built in.

in the footsteps of the smartphones

DJI is updating its top-of-the-line MAVIC family again and this time the main focus is going to be the cameras. Just like with smartphones which moved from one to two and now three (and even 4) cameras, the new DJI Mavic 3 Pro and DJI Mavic 3 Pro Cine include 3 different cameras with 3 different focal lengths.

The new drones include the following camera systems:

  • 24mm Wide-Angle: Based around a 20MP Hasselblad branded 4/3 CMOS sensor (just like the original DJI Mavic 3), with an adjustable f/2.8 to f/11 aperture. It offers 5.1K video resolution up to 50 fps and incorporates the Hasselblad Natural Color Solution (HNCS) with D-Log, D-Log M (new for easier color grading), and HLG formats.
  • 70mm Medium Telephoto: This is the new camera added to the PRO versions, this 1/1.3″ CMOS sensor with 48MP resolution includes a fixed f/2.8 aperture and can capture up to 4K at 60 fps, this camera can take advantage of Night Mode, ActiveTrack, and Hyperlapse shooting modes (as well as the aforementioned D-Log, D-Log M, and HLG formats).
  • 166mm Telephoto: This 1/2″ CMOS 12MP telephoto of the Mavic 3 is still here with an updated aperture of f/3.4, It also improves its 4K fps from 30 to 60fps.

The new drones include many safety technologies including:

  •  APAS 5.0 technology actively detects obstacles
  • Waypoint Flight
  • Cruise Control
  • Hyperlapse
  • MaserShots
  • FocusTrack
  • Panorama
  • QuickShots

The drones maximum flight time will be 43 minutes (3 min less than the Mavic 3 due to its larger and heavier build), they include O3+ (or OcuSync) video transmission from up to 15km/9.3 miles away as well as support for the optional DJI Goggles 2, Goggles Integra, and RC Motion 2.

Pricing and availability

Pricing for both drones will range from $2200 and up to $4800 for the PRO Cine version (they should be available in early May 2023). The Cine version will record ProRes RAW into an internal 1TB SSD (which is sadly none removable).
