Nikon introduced a new advanced mirrorless camera the Nikon Z8. Two years after the introduction of the Z9 the Z8 will gain much of its bigger brothers’ features but in a smaller body.
Nikon Z8 Main features:
If you followed our Z9 release article two years ago what we have with the Z8 is almost identical in terms of features (there might still be small changes that we are not aware of at this point but for the most part it is the same camera in a smaller, somewhat lighter body.
Talking about the body, this will be the first camera to include not one but two USB-C ports, one for communication and one dedicated to charging the camera. Another change from the Z9 is that the Z8 has both a single CFexpress Type B and one SD card slot.
Looking at the body you can also clearly see that the built-in battery grip is gone. Instead, the camera (which is significantly smaller, although still quite substantial) uses the EN-EL15c which many Nikon cameras use (battery life is said to be between 340/370 images between charges).
Here is the main feature list of the Z8:
- Sensor: 45.7MP Stacked CMOS.
- Shooting speed: Up to 20fps with Raw, 30fps full-sized JPEG, and 120fps @ 11MP (1000 frame buffer).
- Image stabilization: Synchro VR combining in-body and lens stabilization, up to 6EV.
- RAW Video shooting: up to 8K/60p video (N-Raw) and 4.1K in ProRes Raw.
- Video shooting: 8K/30p and max 4K/60p (from 8K frame).
- Viewfinder: 3.68M dot EVF.
- Monitor: 2.1M dot monitor with a hinge
- Memory card: CFexpress Type B and UHS II SD.
- Connections: Two USB-C ports, full size HDMI, headphone, mic.

Pricing and availability
When it comes to pricing the new Z8 is not only smaller than the Z9 but also quite a bit more affordable at just under $4000 and should be available in late May 2023.
