Rhino Camera Gear recently launched a new Kickstarter campaign for their new ROV Motorized Slider – the smallest slider in their line and one which was designed for both smartphones and cameras up to 2.5kg/5lbs.
Most motorized sliders are pretty big and bulky and some are also quite complex to assemble and re-assemble each time (The Motion Module for the SliderONE by Edelkrone is one of the only exceptions but it is pretty expensive at around $570).
The Rhino ROV uses a coreless DC motor (see info on this technology here), it has unibody aluminum housing/rail and 8 or 16 inches (20/40cm) of travel depending on the specific version (every day/traveler). The somewhat pricer version also comes with a ballhead so you can hook your smartphone or camera and start shooting
Rhino has an iOS apps for working with a smartphone or a camera and the company stated that it is working on Android versions of these apps.
One of the strongest aspects of the new Rhino ROV besides its size and weight is its price – $229 for the ROV, $299 for the ROV Pro on Kickstarter.
