2 Cool Ways for Shooting Fireworks

On this video recorded just before the 4’th of July, photographer Tony Northrup shares two useful tips for shooting fireworks.

There are all sorts of ways to shoot fireworks. In this video Northrup demonstrates two of them – the hat technique where you open the shutter for 30 seconds (after focusing on the first firework and going to manual focus). In this type of image you will eventually get an image with lots of fireworks – sometimes too much. The second way includes a remote which can help you shoot a sequence of images without constantly pressing the shutter release bottom.

We already looked at a few other ways of shooting fireworks on previous videos including 8 Tips for Shooting Fireworks by Mark Wallace and from a different angle – How to Add Fireworks in Photoshop by Howard Pinsky.
