To start shooting these type of UV portraits you will need some sort of UV light source – there are simple UV flashes that you can buy (typically they are not that strong), you can buy UV bulb set from Amazon or a professional unit like the Broncolor UV Attachment for the Broncolor Pulso flash head (but this one is probably for more high end uses as the Attachment alone is over $1000).
Now you need to think about creative ways to use UV – here are some tips:
- Use UV makeup (as well as UV hairspray, nail polish and lipstick).
- Make a cool glowing cocktail using fluorescein powder.
- Use UV bubble liquid.
- Use UV wool.
- Use UV holi powder.
- Make glowing hair (deep hair in fluorescein powder).
Just one note – UV photography is cool but UV light is dangerous (not to mention all these chimicals mentioned in the video). Read these safety recommendations before you do anything.
