7 Tips for Stills Life Photography

COOPH magazine published a new video with 7 simple to shoot still life ideas and tips.

We love those inspiring videos by the guys at Cooph and this time they decided to look at still life and make it a little bit more interesting.

The first tip is really simple – plan your shoot – make a drawing of how you want it to look (just like professional videos, movies and commercials do). The second is creating simple set ups – for example using folded cardboard which can bounce some natural light to your subject.

The third is playing with light. Light from below or behind with a little bit of simple diffusion. Next is using reflections with a Plexiglas board (or a mirror) to create some cool looks.

Next is thinking outside the box – to show this they used a green and red apples cut in half and sawed them together (we didn’t know you can actually do that) the result is really cool looking.

The next tip is enhancing your subject (so spray some water on a beer bottle for example and our fevorite in this video – use the fumes from a boiling cattle behind your bottle – really great idea!
