How to Shoot a Beautiful Holiday Family Portraits

On this tutorial Chelsea Northrup takes a look at shooting your holiday portraits with a nice glowing background.

Chelsea choose a white sheer with some christmas lights and a white backdrop. The second important point is looking at lighting (if you don’t have studio lights even a simple flash which you can bounce from the ceiling can work – just make sure the ceiling is white). Finally try and put your subjects relatively far from the background and get relatively far from them with your camera (this might be hard if you are in a smaller room), this way you will get a nice blurred background with lovely spots of light.

This is not the first time we have been looking at these sort of family portraits. Chelsea herself did a video we published here entitled “Group Photos Tips: How to Take the Best Family Pictures” and you can also find some good tips on “5 Simple Tips For Taking More Natural Family Portraits” by Michelle Ford.
