Earlier this year Nikon published an interesting video which shows some aspects of its lens design. including the workings of the vibration reduction mechanism, the way its ultrasonic AF motor work as well as the electronic diaphragm and more.
We love to see how different technologies work to create the gear that we use every day. This short video covers quite a few topics including the advanced Nikon AF and image stabilization as well as different aspects of optical design including different types of glass and coatings and the way they affect the lens both optically and in term of durability.
If you also are also interested in how some of these technologies (and other by other manufacturers) are made – make sure you check out many of our other videos showing you how different manufacturers develop, build and test lenses including “Nikon Lens Craftsmanship“, “How does the Glass for Nikon Lenses is Made”, “How Does Panasonic Manufacture Lenses at the Yamagata Plant“, “How Does Sigma Manufacture Lenses (part 1 and part 2)”, “Carl Zeiss – Manufacturing the new Touit lenses“, and finally “How Leica Lenses are Made“.
